Our Story

A house with two front doors.

The Crawfords and the Murphys have kept each other's names for four generations. What began when Willie G Crawford married Charles Murphy in 1922 is now a family of more than two hundred, descended from Caleb Crawford and Maggie Conway — spread across fifteen states. It has been decades since we last gathered as one family. In 2027 we come home, and for the first time we begin writing it all down.

  1. 1870

    Caleb Crawford

Caleb Crawford is born in Middle Tennessee — the earliest name we can name, and the patriarch of the Crawford line.

  2. 1893

    Caleb & Maggie

Caleb Crawford marries Maggie Conway (1875–1913). Together they raise ten children — among them Willie G Crawford, who carries the family into its next chapter.

  3. 1922

    The joining

Willie G Crawford (1907–1982) marries Charles Murphy (1904–1970). Their union joins the two family lines and gives us the name we still gather under.

  4. 1924

    A growing house

Willie G Crawford begins raising her children with Charles Murphy — the first of fourteen Crawford-Murphy sons and daughters who would carry the family forward.

  5. The Long Quiet

    Decades apart

As the elders passed, so did the yearly gatherings. For decades the family stayed close in pieces — phone calls, funerals, holidays — but never all at one table.

  6. 2027

Home again — and on the record

The first family reunion in decades, and the first time we formally set down the Family Ledger. Every branch, every name, every homecoming — written so no one is lost again.

Family values

What we carry with us.

Remembrance. We speak the names of those before us — especially the ones nearly forgotten in the long quiet.

Welcome. No cousin is too distant. No guest goes unfed. No branch is too far to bring home.

Legacy. This year we begin the Family Ledger — the first written record of us all, and a page for every reunion to come.
